FYI the link to Andrew Escobar's site now redirects to his Twitter, but there was some valuable info on there. Good ol' Archive.org. Just go there and enter:
http://andrewescobar.com/archive/2005/11/11/how-to-safe-sleep-your-mac/
into the WayBack Machine. Or go straight to the archived page:

@Mike Brossi

Mike, the guide here that I have compiled is quite old (only applies to Tiger 10.4) and therefore I'm pretty sure most of this will not work on Leopard.

I can tell you that Safe Sleep is not a feature that is turned on by default. I would call Apple and ask them why this is happening. They will no doubt tell you how to fix it.

Hello,
Somehow my MacBook Pro (2.5 Core 2 Duo, 10.5.6) will enter safe sleep (even with 90% battery - I think it has something to do with closing the MacBook when the screen is asleep - not the computer - just the screen) will enter safe sleep but it won't wake up when the computer is open. It wakes up by holding the power button down for more than 10 second. But if I hold it too long it will just turn off. Then I have to reboot. - any insight?
Thanks.

Hello,
The lines of code in the first block seems not to be correct. I think it has to do with putting the comma's and the spaces at the right place. Could you give me the right code? I have problems with the safe sleep on my mac book pro. It doesn't enter safe sleep when my battery run out. It just poofs out.

Thanx by the way for the explanation above, I know a lot more now about safe sleep. Although I still don't undetstand why it is nt working for me.
